Alex Karpenko is the master of close shaves, or at least he’d want to be as his ‘weapon’ of choice, when it comes to shaving, is an axe.
Karpenko has told cosmetics giants to shove their razors where the sun doesn’t shine, as he has no need for the expensive “luxuries”. The story of Alex Karpenko and his love for a close shave would have gone unnoticed if it wasn't for the always-eventful Austrian Times.
The 35-year-old English teacher from Nizhny Novgrod, Russia, was thought how to shave with everyday objects, such as a garden shovel and an axe, by his World War II veteran grandfather. Sounds like they had all the fun back then.
"Razors are an expensive, unnecessary luxury. He told me that during the war he used to shave using anything. I was so impressed I decided to do the same," said Karpenko.
"I must say though, when my wife first saw me standing in the bathroom with an axe to my throat she was pretty horrified.
"So I decided to hang up the axe and use a sharpened shovel instead. I think it’s probably a bit safer," he added.
We wouldn’t recommend using an axe to shave your face. Best to start off with something small, such as a lawn mower.
