SERBIAN folk music queen Ceca Raznatovic

Ceca RaznatovicSERBIAN folk music queen Ceca Raznatovic pleaded guilty to embezzling millions in exchange for a lenient sentence, prosecutors said Tuesday, bringing to an end a legal soap opera that has transfixed the country.
The singer — real name Svetlana Raznatovic — struck a plea bargain with state prosecutors by pleading guilty in a sale of soccer players from her late husband’s club. In return, she will spend one year under house arrest and pay a $2.2 million fine, the largest ever imposed in Serbia
The star was charged with embezzling about $5.8 million during player sales to foreign clubs and faced up to 15 years in prison if convicted. A Belgrade court still has to formally approve the plea bargain.
Ceca has for years evaded legal prosecution thanks to the support of current and former Serbian political leaders who consider her untouchable because of her huge popularity.
Prosecution spokesman Tomo Zoric defended the bargain, saying the fine will be the largest ever paid in Serbia.
“We are talking about cash, not real estate, which will benefit all the Serbs and will be used for (building) hospitals and schools,” Zoric said.

$10 Million Buried

$10 million was found buried in a garlic field in the South Korean village of Gimje, police say.

11 billion won, or approximately $10 million, was discovered by a laborer named Ahn who had been hired to dig up an apricot tree.

According to the police, a 53-year-old man (who has only been identified as Lee) had buried the cash for his brothers-in-law, who were under investigation for operating an illegal gambling operation on the Internet.

Police are currently investigating the cash and another $5 million that is reportedly missing. There have been accusations that Ahn stole some of the missing cash, although ABC News reports that this is possibly just be a tactic by the owner of the land, hoping to protect himself from the gangsters whose money he'd hidden.

Ahn, 52, was apparently hired this February, after the land was sold. Lee bought the land, and the former owner wanted his old apricot tree. (News reports do not identify any of the men's first names.) As Ahn was digging, he uncovered a plastic box. He thought it was junk and got rid of it, unaware that it was actually filled with $270,000 in cash.

Two months later, Lee claimed that Ahn had stolen $620,000, and told Ahn that the money belonged to gangsters. Ahn then hurried to the police, declaring his innocence and seeking protection.

Police were dispatched to the garlic field in Gimje, about 160 miles south of Seoul, and began digging. On Monday they unearthed 27 plastic boxes, stuffed with Korean currency totaling $10 million.

When Lee was confronted by the police, he confessed to burying the cash for his in-laws.

Between January of 2008 and November of 2009, Lee's brothers-in-law, who are also both named Lee, ran an illegal gambling website with a server based in Hong Kong. Eventually the police tracked down the site, and put the Lee brothers out of business. The younger Lee is now in jail, while the elder Lee is on the run from the law.

According to local reports, Lee the field owner recently dug up some of the money for his own use and he was in a panic about how to explain the missing cash to the younger Lee brother, who is due for release next month.

Ex-NY mob boss makes history with trial testimony

NEW YORK – A jailed former Mafia boss who once ordered a payback killing in the infamous "Donnie Brasco" case made gangland history Tuesday by becoming the highest-ranking member of the city's five Italian organized crime families to break their sacred vow of silence and testify against one of their own.
Joseph Massino took the witness stand at the Brooklyn trial of Vincent "Vinny Gorgeous" Basciano, who served as one of his captains in the Bonanno crime family. Prosecutors say that Massino secretly recorded Basciano admitting he ordered a hit on an associate who ran afoul of the secretive Bonannos.
"You will hear the defendant did not tolerate being disrespected or disobeyed and that the penalty for both was death," Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicole Argentieri said in opening statements.
Moments after being sworn in, Massino pointed across the courtroom and identified Basciano — "the guy sitting in the gray suit" — as the crime family's former acting boss. The defendant stared back at the government's star witness, steadily chewing on a piece of gum.
In clipped tones, Massino gave the anonymous jury a colorful tutorial on the Mafia.
By cooperating, he explained, he was violating a sacred oath he took during a 1977 induction ceremony to protect the secret society. It was understood, he said, that "once a bullet leaves that gun, you never talk about it."
He testified that when he took control of the family he gave strict orders to never utter his name — a precaution against FBI surveillance. Instead, his soldiers touched their ears to refer to him, earning him the nickname "The Ear."
Asked about his duties as boss, he replied, "Murder. ... Making captains. Breaking captains" — lingo for promoting and demoting capos. He said he also had to assess talent.
"It takes all kinds of meat to make a good sauce," said Massino, the one-time proprietor of a Queens restaurant called CasaBlanca. "Some people, they kill. Some people, they earn, they can't kill."
Massino, 68, broke ranks and began talking with investigators after his 2004 conviction for orchestrating a quarter-century's worth of murder, racketeering and other crimes as he rose through the ranks of the Bonannos. The bloodshed included the shotgun slayings of three rival captains and the execution of a mobster who vouched for FBI undercover Brasco in the 1980s. Brasco's story became a movie starring Johnny Depp and Al Pacino.
While imprisoned together in 2005, the former Bonanno boss agreed to wear a wire and betray Basciano.
The understudy "told me that he killed him," Massino said in recounting a conversation about the 2004 slaying charged in the current case. "He said (the victim) was a scumbag, a rat, a troublemaker, a bad kid."
In his opening statement, defense attorney George Goltzer told jurors that Basciano took credit for the coldblooded murder to protect the real killer — a friend in the Bonannos who acted without proper permission — "from the wrath of Joseph Massino." The lawyer described Massino and other turncoats slated to testify for the government as deceitful opportunists.
"The United States government needs to make deals with the devil. ... You don't have to accept what they say," Goltzer said.
Prosecutors say Basciano, the one-time owner of the Hello Gorgeous beauty salon, rose to his leadership role after a series of Bonanno defections and successful prosecutions in the 2000s decimated its leadership.
The 50-year-old defendant, known for his explosive temper, could face the death penalty if convicted of racketeering, murder and other charges. He already is serving a life term for a conviction in a separate case in 2007.
Massino is serving two consecutive life terms for eight murders. He testified his cooperation spared his wife from prosecution, allowed her to keep their home and gave him a shot at a reduced sentence.
He said he hoped "one day maybe I'll see a little light at the end of the tunnel."
And what about Donnie Brasco?
Massino said he had never met the real-life undercover. Asked whether the movie was accurate, he started to move his hand in a dismissive way before the judge cut him off.
"Jurors, disregard this," the judge instructed while making the same motion.

Amazing video of cat and dolphin at play

They certainly make an amusing couple and the video is a hit on Youtube.
A tabby cat enjoys a few nose-to-nose moments with a dolphin before reaching out with a paw to stroke the side of its face.
Both the cat and the dolphin seem extremely curious and playful in each other's company in the video uploaded from the USA, though the location of the video is unclear.
At first the dolphin keeps resting its chin on the top of the cat's head.
Then the cat reaches out with its paw, beckoning its giant buddy to come closer.
After what appears to be some loving kisses, the cat rubs its head all around the dolphin's mouth.
At one point the cat appears to be kissing the dolphin while holding the side of its face with the left paw.
Two more dolphins show up, but this kitty only has eyes for its new pal.

Can Beckham really do this? Video

David Beckham's 69-second video showing him bending three footballs into a trio of far away rubbish bins on a California beach has received more than 1.3 million hits on YouTube.
But Beckham was somewhat evasive when asked in Toronto Tuesday if the amazing video, done for a popular soft drink label, was real or doctored.
"Of course," the former England captain said told the Toronto Star. "I spent five or six hours on the beach so I had a lot of time to practice."
Wearing khaki shorts and a white shirt, Beckham puts down a soft drink he is holding and drifts three ball into the rubbish bins while people off camera express shock and admiration. The stunt is all the more amazing because the former Manchester United star is barefoot.
Beckham then speaks into the camera and says "told you."
Big name American corporations are increasingly using high-profile athletes to do seemingly impossible video stunts as a way to market their products to a younger generation.
In one video, NBA star Kobe Bryant jumps over a speeding car, NHL hero Sidney Crosby fires pucks with pin-point accuracy in another and one spot has tennis champion Roger Federer knocking a can of shaving cream off a man's head with a bullet serve.

A380 hit

Video footage has emerged from the moment an A380 jumbo jet collided with a smaller passenger plane at JFK airport, causing it to spin violently.
The amateur recording captures the moment the wing of the 525-seat Ai France plane smashed into the tail fin of the Comair CRJ carrying 6 passengers forcing it to turn by 90 degrees.
Eye witnesses said they saw damage to one of the wings of the A380 which has been taken in for inspection.
No passengers or crew were reported to have been injured in the crash.

Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO)’s shutdown of the Flip video division lets Chief Executive Officer John Chambers get started on a bigger challenge: shoring up the main business of routers and switches.
The largest maker of networking gear faces a threat from lower-priced rivals, such as Juniper Networks Inc. (JNPR) and Hewlett- Packard Co. Routers and switches, which help businesses and carriers handle Internet traffic, account for about half of the company’s revenue.
Cisco, which said yesterday it will cut 550 jobs as part of the Flip closure, faces a trade-off between profit and market share. Its traditional networking gear has been its highest- margin source of revenue, propelling its dominance in the industry. As new competitors introduce cheaper alternatives, Cisco is struggling to maintain its lead without matching rivals’ price cuts, said Sean Conner, an analyst with Nuveen Asset Management in Minneapolis.
“If a customer only needed a Chevrolet, Cisco would sell them a Porsche even if they didn’t need the extra speed,” said Conner, whose firm sold its Cisco stake in January after holding the shares for more than five years. “Now they can’t because HP and Juniper came in and said to consumers, ‘Why are you paying for all that extra stuff?’”
Hewlett-Packard, the world’s largest computer maker, is selling more networking gear to capitalize on the growth of data centers -- the vast server facilities that power the Internet. Juniper, meanwhile, entered the switching market in 2008, building on its routing business.
Karen Tillman, a spokeswoman for San Jose, California-based Cisco, declined to comment.

‘Tough Market’

Chambers said last week that Cisco is taking a hard look at the switching business, where it has more than 80 percent global market share. Cisco is seeking ways to bring new products to profitability more quickly, he said.
“Switching is our challenge,” Chambers said last week at an investor conference in San Francisco, singling out International Business Machines Corp. (IBM)Oracle Corp. (ORCL) and Hewlett- Packard as rivals. “It’s going to be a tough market for us.”
Sales of switches rose 12 percent to $13.6 billion in the fiscal year ended in July, accounting for about a third of total revenue. In the subsequent six months, year-over-year growth has slowed to 7.2 percent.
Some networking rivals are willing to accept 40 percent gross margins on switches, while Cisco has typically seen 70 percent to 80 percent margins, Chambers said at the investor conference. Gross margin measures the percentage of sales remaining after deducting product costs.
Time to Choose?
“Cisco needs to choose between protecting share or preserving margins,” John Slack, an analyst at Citigroup Inc. in San Francisco, said yesterday in a note to clients. “It simply can’t do both.”
Chambers said in an April 4 memo to staff that he would make several “targeted moves” to restore lost credibility and sharpen the company’s focus. Shutting Flip, which Cisco bought for $590 million in 2009, isn’t enough to compensate for the declining profitability of its broader consumer business, said Alex Henderson, an analyst at New York-based Miller Tabak & Co. The company should exit that area entirely, he said.
“They’ve got a lot of work to do, and this is just a drop in the bucket,” Henderson said of the Flip decision.
The job cuts yesterday represent less than 1 percent of total employees and will take place by the end of the fiscal year, the company said. Cisco’s consumer division also includes Linksys home networking, and audio and media-storage products.

Home Video

Cisco bought Flip to expand its expertise in home-video networking, a bid that never paid off. Flip posted about $325 million in revenue last year, less than 1 percent of total sales, Citigroup’s Slack said.
Cisco’s gross margin narrowed to 64 percent last fiscal year from 70 percent in 2003, in part a reflection of the push into consumer products and pressure from rivals on prices of its corporate products.
The slump has taken its toll on Cisco’s shares, which have declined 34 percent in the past year. That’s wiped out about $50 billion in market value. The stock fell 3 cents to $17.44 yesterday in Nasdaq Stock Market trading.
Competition continues to mount. As Cisco was pushing into new areas, smaller companies such as Riverbed Technology Inc., F5 Networks Inc. and Aruba Networks Inc. have been able to gain an edge, according to Mizuho Securities USA Inc.
While these competitive pressures may have caught Cisco by surprise, they’re unlikely to keep the company down for long, said Rohit Mehra, an analyst at IDC in Framingham,Massachusetts.
“I don’t see a lot of these challenges as Herculean,” Mehra said. “We can call these small missteps. You will lose some market share when you’re the 800-pound gorilla.”

Lady Gaga Takes a Tumble During Concert

Lady Gaga took a tumble Sunday night in the middle of her concert in Houston, Texas , but that didn't stop her from wowing the crowd.

The 'Born This Way' singer was standing on her piano bench, with one leg on her piano, when she lost her balance and fell in the middle of singing her new tune 'You and I.'

But in true Gaga fashion, she didn't miss a beat, and popped back up to continue the song, injury-free.

Hayden Panettiere

"THE LESS BLOODY I have to be, the better for me," actress

Hayden Panettiere said in a recent phone chat. "As long as it has to

do with a stunt, that's the way I like to die."

Panettiere should know: She died or came close to it often as the

indestructible cheerleader Claire Bennet on NBC's "Heroes." But

her next character has much more to worry about.

Panettiere appears in "Scream 4," which hits theaters Friday. Not

only is she no longer immortal, but now there's a killer coming after

her and her comely buddies.

"There's something so scary about that mask," she said. "Halloween

masks nowadays, they're just so gruesome and gory. But there's

something so simplistic and eerie and creepy about that mask."

In the four-quel, Panettiere appears alongside series familiars like

Neve CampbellCourteney Cox and David Arquette

and newbies like Emma Roberts and Rory Culkin. Panettiere

plays the brassy Kirby. "She's got this tomboy edge to her, this dry

sarcastic sense of humor, but she's still one of the girls," Panettiere

said. "But then underneath, she's this horror-movie buff, which is

not what you expect from her."

The movie picks up when the oft-targeted Sydney (Campbell)

returns to her hometown on a book tour and Ghostface comes out to

play once more.

Want to feel old? Dig this: Panettiere was only 7 when the original

"Scream" flick was released in 1996. But she loves that this isn't a

total reboot and includes some oldheads like Cox and Campbell. "I

love that they did that; they respect where this film came from,"
Panettiere said.
