Rock in Rio is back home. After 10 years, the audience will be able enjoy again the exported event which generated an enormous visibility for the city and country. Also enshrined in Portugal and Spain, the Rock in Rio has grown and matured its formula of success with a team of international production. Today, 26 years later, its return promises a lot of buzz and certainly an unforgettable experience for the public. With scheduled dates for September 23, 24, 25, 30 and October 01 and 02, the concerts will take place in Jacarepaguá, west zone of Rio de Janeiro, same neighborhood where it debuted on 1985, on a geographically favored position: 150mil m2 and a natural lagoon on the landscape. The "Parque Olímpico Cidade do Rock" (Olympic Park Rock City) is an area that the City Hall of Rio de Janeiro is giving and anticipating the constructions of what will be in the Olympics in 2016 the recreational park for athletes.
The event comes at a time of great promise and investments in Rio de Janeiro in a promising moment - along with the achievement of the 2016 Olympic Games and World Cup 2014, which also contribute positively to project the brand and bring the city's economic development.Since its first edition, which pushed the music industry to a growth of 180%, the numbers underscore the importance of the event on emblematic moments in the history of Brazil, such as freedom of expression experienced after the motion "Diretas já."
Rock in Rio sums up nine editions, three on Brazil (1985, 1991 and 2001), four on Portugal (2004, 2006, 2008 e 2010) and two on Spain (2008 and 2010). Over 5 million spectators were present to watch the 656 attractions that played on event. In total, itâs more than 780 hours of music, with transmission to more than 1 billion viewers over 80 countries. On 2011, the expectation is that 600 000 people will visit the event and enjoy in safety and comfort each one of the attractions that will be offered, such as the World Stage and Sunset and Electronics. On this edition, Rock in Rio gets toys like an amusement park and the public can have fun on the Tirolesa, Ferris Wheel and Kaboon.
The international prestige achieved by the Rock in Rio is a result of this communication model that sees beyond the stage, and offers many business opportunities for brands associated to the event, professional support, personal staff and technological for artists, comfort, services, and products for the public at fair prices. Rock in Rio took committed to the host cities and develop concrete actions with social and environmental focus. Through the project "Por Um Mundo Melhor" â released on 2011, on the third edition of the festival on Brazil â, already did benefit many persons, on Brazil, Portugal and Spain, with donations from sales of tickets and the actions taken by the partners.

Rock in Rio is the biggest music event and entertainment of all times, including all nine editions realized on Brazil, Portugal and Spain. The festival will happen on the 23, 24, 25 and 30 of September, 1 and 2 of October of 2011, at the Olympic Park Rock City on Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro.
For a better world
Ten years ago, Rock in Rio assumed the responsibility to also be a communication vehicle for social and environmental causes with the creation of the project For a Better World. In nine editions, thousands of people on Brasil, Portugal, Spain and other many countries have benefited from investments from the sale of tickets for the event and the actions promoted by the partners, totaling more than 5 million euros. Among the actions taken were planted over 40,000 trees, a school was built in Tanzania, and a health center in Maranhão. Rock in Rio also graduated 3,200 adolescents in elementary school in Rio de Janeiro; placed 760 solar panels on public schools in Lisbon; and set up 14 sensorial rooms on NGO to assist children with mental and visual disabilities. In addition, since 2006, Rock in Rio is committed to offset 100% of CO2 emissions of the event - with Deloitteâs audit - and invested in an emissions reduction plan, which included the preparation of a manual of good practice for sponsors and suppliers, which has been improved with each edition and is still used today in all countries where it is performed.
