The Mega Millions winning numbers are worth $201 million. There was no jackpot winner in the last drawing, but there were 18 people who were lucky enough to match the first five numbers. They won $250,000, which is nothing to sneeze at, but it certainly isn't the jackpot.
The last time the Mega Millions winning numbers were claimed was on February 1. Winners claimed the $93 million prize, and since then, there have been 12 drawings with no winning numbers. This is why the jackpot has continued to grow to such a huge amount. Whoever finally does choose the Mega Millions winning numbers will be quite rich, indeed.
Even at $201 million, this jackpot isn't the highest ever paid out. That came in February 2006 when people won $365 million in Powerball. Eight persons shared the winning lotto ticket, and they opted for the upfront payment of $177 million.
Does this growing pot tempt you to buy more Mega Millions lottery tickets, in hopes of picking the elusive winning numbers? If so, the money would certainly change your life. Unfortunately, 80 percent of all lottery winners end up filing for bankruptcy; so if you do win, be careful.
